Where is better to vacation with a toddler Colorado Springs or Denver?

I plan on taking my two year old on vacation to Colorado this September. I don’t know which has more to offer for children, Denver or Colorado Springs. I am assuming Denver since it is larger, but Colorado Springs is closer to us (less gas!). If anyone has taken their young children to either, your opinion will be valued heavily. Thank you!
