How long should employee be given notice of taking vacation day?

I have a hearing to fight a traffic ticket this Thursday so today I filled out a form to get a paid vacation day. Someone felt we should give the company 2 weeks advanced notice and another girl said they should approve it. The company has given me less days to work due to a slowdown with no days at all worked in a week sometimes. Since I have has so many days off it was harder for me to give an advanced notice. In general how long should be appropriate for telling an employer I want a vacation day?

Can a company use an employee’s vacation time to compensate for time off due to severe weather?

My company closed for 2 days due to severe weather and they are using those days off as vacation days. Many of us have already scheduled our vacation days for later in the year and have already paid for cruises or in my case airfaire, but now don’t have the sufficient amount of vacation time left. Can they do this?

Can I be forced to use vacation when we are not allowed to go to work?

Normal residents were not allowed to return until Thursday, September 4. The place I work did not get power back until Sunday, September 7. We are being told we have to take no pay or vacation to get paid. Can they make me take vacation? Friday is not an issue because we work Monday to Thursday.

Is payment for accrued vacation required when terminating and employee?

The employer did not give the employee the final check which was the vacation pay. The employee had to request forr the vacation pay a few days later. The employer denied and gave execuse because the employer is not able to find the tracking records for the employee’s vacation usage?
